Henry Srebrnik is Professor of Political Studies at the University of Prince Edward Island, Charlottetown, PEI, Canada, where he teaches comparative politics and ethnic relations. In his research he examines the impact of nationalism and ethnically-based political conflict, especially among diaspora peoples and in island societies. He earned his PhD degree in political science from the University of Birmingham in England. He holds two masters degrees: in political science, from McGill University, Montreal, Que., Canada; and in Contemporary Jewish Studies, from Brandeis University, Waltham, MA, USA. He received his BA from McGill University. He is the author of two books: "London Jews and British Communism, 1935-1945" (London: Frank Cass,1995) and "Jerusalem on the Amur: Birobidzhan and the Canadian Jewish Communist Movement, 1924-1951" (Montreal: McGill-Queen's University Press, 2008). He is co-editor, and a contributor to, "De Facto States: The Quest For Sovereignty" (London: Routledge, 2004).
